Klein Family Counseling is a small, private practice located in Bartlett, TN. It was founded in June of 2018 by two individuals - Jeff & Mandy - who find joy in immersing themselves into their community. Jeff, Mandy's husband, works for the Memphis Police Department, and Mandy is a career-long social worker. In addition to their community roles, they are also proud parents of a diverse and blended family.
Each of them saw the overwhelming need in the community for early intervention services and decided to help meet it by opening this practice. Their hope was that younger children would get the therapy they so deserve, and more families would feel empowered and supported. Those two pillars were the missing links they believed could help create a thriving community with positive growth.
The practice, while still small, has grown over the years. It started as a one-room therapy office, which Mandy worked out of part-time, and now consists of five rooms (including a play therapy room), which are utilized by eight, hand-picked counselors. Some counselors are full-time, like Mandy herself, others are part-time. Some even offer tele-therapy. Our counselors range in age, ethnicities, specializations, insurance acceptance, etc.; Altogether making a great team to help anyone from any walk of life to feel welcomed, comfortable, safe and accepted through their process of mental healing and/or support.
Our focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. We achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan.
We promise to be there for you every step of your journey. Our goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life.
Children’s natural language is play. Play is their language and toys are their words. Sometimes children display signs and symptoms of emotional distress. Unlike adults they are not able to verbally process those feelings. In play therapy they are able to work on their problems and alleviate the symptoms.
Sand Tray provides a powerful therapuetic medium. It is a technique which can be used to facilitate healing in adults, adolescents, and children allowing them to express their thoughts and feelings when words are not enough.
Mediation is a dynamic, structured, interactive process where a neutral third party assists disputing parties in resolving conflict through the use of specialized communication and negotiation techniques. All participants in mediation are encouraged to actively participate in the process. Mediation is a "party-centered" process in that it is focused primarily upon the needs, rights, and interests of the parties. The mediator uses a wide variety of techniques to guide the process in a constructive direction and to help the parties find their optimal solution.
Even the most reasonable parents are under an incredible amount of stress during a separation or divorce. Having a safe place and a safe person to mediate discussions can be helpful and the first step towards positive communications for the future.
Teens face a host of challenges through the transition from child to adult. The barriers they encounter may be from past or present, and they could have difficulty communicating with a parent. Therapy can provide a way to help develop better coping and problem solving skills in order to bridge the gap of communication.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.
